Well known prostate cancer pathologist, Dr. Jonathan Oppenheimer will be our guest speaker this month. This is a real treat to be able to get a close up look at how we are diagnosed and given a stage and grade of the disease. Dr. Oppenheimer will be speaking about the changing face of prostate cancer diagnosis and also will show us the art of pathology. Please come and join us for a great session.

Meeting Notices for November
Starting with this month, this site will also post meeting notices for the Pahrump chapter as well as for the Las Vegas chapter.
For this month on Las Vegas:
Meeting date is November 17 at 7:00 PM at the Nevada Cancer Institute.
Dr. Nicholas Vogelzang will be discussing advanced treatment therapies for patients with progressive prostate cancer. This information is useful to ALL patients, however. Please come and see this renowned speaker and prostate cancer oncologist

Meeting date is November 19 at 1:00pm at the Pahrump Senior Center on 1370 West Basin Street. Dr. Vogelzang is also speaking at this event (note his dedication to the patient community). Tony Crispino, head of the Las Vegas Chapter, will also be there bringing much need handout supplies for the Pahrump chapter.

Meeting Notice for October 20, 2011
Big night. We will be announcing the results of our 2 mile prostate cancer awareness walk. Also a huge topic in the prostate cancer industry ~ the US Preventive Services Task Force has issued a draft announcement recommending against all screening for prostate cancer in all men. We will talk about the pro's and Con's of that announcement. Later we have Dr. Oscar Goodman speaking on advanced prostate cancer...

We will have a presentation on the PCRI Conference. Also we are having an Open House that evening. We are extending time to patients to discuss their individual cases. Additionally, we are doing our final planning for the upcoming "This One's for the Boys" prostate cancer awareness event. We need your support...

Meeting Notice for August 18
Hi Everybody. The summer break is over and we have a meeting this Thursday as usual at the Nevada Cancer Institute, 10441 West Twain at 7:00pm...
This month is a busy one as we have several things to discuss:
1> Our Guest Speaker is Skip Lockwood. Skip is the CEO of Zero-The project to End Prostate Cancer based in Washington DC. This is a lobby group that has been working with congress to get funding for prostate cancer research. He will update us on where the money is join and give us ways to help.
2> We have a major event for our group on September 24th. UsTOO in conjunction with 21st Century Oncology, is hosting a "This One's for the Boy's" Prostate cancer awareness walk at UNLV. Proceeds with go the CARE.org (75%) and to our own chapter (25%). Already we have received an $1,846.00 contribution from 21st Century to sponsor our meetings. I want to talk to our group about ways to bring awareness to our community through a committee we need to appoint. Please come and help us with this effort...
3> The Prostate Cancer Research Institute (PCRI) is hosting their annual Summit in Los Angeles. I will be driving down to attend and if anyone wants to go, we can pay a limited number of tuitions and I will be glad to have them ride with me. I have a place to stay down there, but you may need a room at the hotel where the event is being help. UsTOO will get the tuition, you will need to get the room.

Meeting Notice for June 16
Nutritionist Amy Patton from the Nevada Cancer Institute will be our guest speaker for this months meeting. We will also be discussing this weekends Prostate Cancer awareness night at Cashman Field for Fathers Day. We have the opportunity to throw out the first pitch for the 51's game and we need to select our volunteers for the day.
